Summerwood Veterinary Clinic Staff

Dr. Susan McCann, DVM

Dr. Susan McCann has been practicing in the Houston area for 15 years.  She received a Bachelor of Veterinary Science Degree in 1990 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1992 from Texas A&M University. She has been active with many non-profit organizations including area animal shelters and spay/neuter groups.  Her special interests include soft tissue surgery and cancer treatments.  Dr. McCann supports the human/animal bond and is dedicated to serving the people and pets in our community.  She lives with her husband Peter and their many “four-legged babies.”

Peter McCann

Peter McCann is the Practice Manager here at Summerwood. Soon after graduating from Texas State in 1988, he started his own successful business in construction and continued working in the field prior to acquiring Summerwood Veterinary Clinic with his wife and partner, Dr. Susan McCann in December of 2006. Peter brings over 18 years of customer service oriented business experience to the clinic, and strives to keep our staff focused on the primary reason for the existence of our clinic – providing exceptional care for our clients and their pets. He appreciates all client feedback, and reviews each completed customer survey personally. The surveys are available on this site or at the clinic. Peter can also reached by phone at the clinic or emailed at pmccann@summerwoodvet.com. He and Dr. McCann share a strong love for animals. They have three dogs at home, along with Francois, the clinic cat.

Michele Winchester

Michelle Winchester is our office manager at Summerwood, and has 12 years experience in Veterinary Medicine. She has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education courses in a wide variety of areas, with special interests in surgery and orthopedics. Michelle loves animals of all sizes, and has 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 donkeys, 8 goats and one longhorn calf.

Kimberly McArthur

Kimberly McArthur has been a Veterinary Medicine proffessional for the last five years. Her credentials include a degree in medical assistance and a degree from the Texas School of Business. She loves spending time with animals, especially her 4 dogs, 3 cats and 3 ducks.

Leah Jennings

Leah Jennings has spent the last 7 years in the Veterinary Medicine profession. She is certified as a Veterinary Technician and made the Deans list with a 4.0 average while studying for her certificate. Leah has also aquired  certifications as a avian and equine technician, and has completed internships at the Houston Zoo as well as at a private wildlife ranch. She credits her Great Grandmother for nurturing her love of animals. Leah has 5 dogs, a cockatiel and 3 large aquariums.

Meagan Lobue

Meagan Lobue Began work in the Veterinary field in 2004, and soon decided to train as a Veterinary Assistant. She enjoys welcoming Summerwood clients and their pets. Meagan has 3dogs and 2 cats at home.

Brittany Boeker

Brittany Boeker recently joined us at Summerwood as a receptionist and brings over 5 years experience in customer service. She enjoys welcoming our clients and their pets and making them feel at home. Brittany recently added a bulldog puppy to her home.

Kristin Grimmett

Kristin Grimmett is the newest addition to the Summerwood family. You’ll know Kristin is a pet lover the first time she meets your pet. She is a certified Veterinary Technician with ten years experience in the field. Kristin has one dog she loves to pamper.
